The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation, Inc. (Foundation) has announced that they will award $166,250 to 29 Charitable Organizations and collegiate scholarship recipients as a result of the 2019 Bonanza Extravaganza.
Since 2006, The Foundation has given back over $1.9 million dollars to the local community. John Murray, President of the Foundation, says, “Once again our Foundation has demonstrated what is possible when we partner with businesses and community organizations to put on the greatest show in the  tri-state.” Murray added, “We are so proud of this accomplishment!”
The event is held to raise funds to benefit the community and community programs. Annually, the Bonanza Extravaganza awards over $850,000 in cash and prizes including automobiles, motorcycles, and a $100,000 grand prize. There is a guaranteed winner each time with prizes awarded through a random 4-digit drawing to limited ticket holders.
“The annual Bonanza Extravaganza has emerged as Washington County’s largest and most economically impactful special event. The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1605 deserves much praise for this event, they are a true contributor to Washington County’s tourism economy.” Says Dan Spedden, President, Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau
